We are currently looking for an IT Programme Manager to join us in Madrid. In this role, you will oversee and manage multiple IT projects from start to finish, ensuring alignment with business strategy and strategic priorities. As a key liaison for the business, you’ll lead a portfolio of change projects, coordinating resources and collaborating with stakeholders to achieve intended outcomes. You'll also mentor Project Managers and help establish delivery standards.
The position requires strong leadership, effective collaboration, and experience in working with outsourcing partners. Projects will include regulatory changes, operational improvements, and new developments, varying in size and complexity, with a focus on delivering quality results on time and within budget.
Core responsibilities:
- Manage and deliver complex projects and portfolios of change
- Manage and influence stakeholders across the business at all levels
- Identify the skills and resources needed for project delivery and where needed recruit and build a project team with roles and responsibilities clearly defined
- Manage third parties to deliver to their commitments for our business
- Lead on business case production and maintenance
- Be fully compliant with project governance, reporting and tracking
- Define the project scope appropriately, employing techniques for scope traceability between programmes and projects
- Review and monitor progress against project plans to ensure outputs are delivered to time, budget and quality specifications
- Manage risks, issues and resources to ensure milestone dates are achieved
- Estimate project costs as required and manage projects within the agreed budget, applying the defined change management processes when required
- Report project progress in line with stated policies and procedures within the organisation, including ensuring that any requests for information on projects from the Change Portfolio Lead and other senior staff within the organisation are answered in a timely manner
- Engage in regular communication with stakeholders and sponsors
- Establish teams, in consultation with other parts of the organisation, to ensure the efficient delivery of projects (such teams to be either real or virtual)
- Take responsibility for the efficient running of these teams by setting project objectives and working within a matrix management environment.
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day task management of Business and Operational Analysts assigned to projects
Qualifications:
- Extensive programme and project planning experience, preferably in the IT space
- Strong resource, change and budget management experience
- Proven experience of Change Delivery within the Financial Services industry
- Experience and understanding of Waterfall and Agile delivery methodologies
- Previous experience of working with outsourced service providers
- Understanding of Information Technology systems within a Financial Services platform environment
- PRINCE2, PMP or another recognised professional Change Delivery qualification is preferred
- Strong business acumen and a commercial mindset
- A flexible approach and the ability to influence and motivate others
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent influencing & negotiation skills
