We are looking for Localization Interns to join the UX Design team in our Madrid Innovation Center for 6 months. Working closely with our Technical Writers, they will conduct an integral project aimed at auditing and editing Board software’s strings in 4 languages: Spanish, Italian, French, and German.
Our localization internship provides new graduates with a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience working in the SaaS industry, combining translation with software discovery.
Learning Objectives
- Develop industry-specific content skills, including adherence to content guides and glossaries, understanding voice and tone, applying a brand voice, ensuring consistency in translations, and identifying linguistic ambiguities.
- Gain proficiency in using a financial industry planning software tool.
- Learn to use Crowdin, a localization tool, effectively. This includes optimizing settings to maximize efficiency and understanding best practices for localization strategies and processes.
- Acquire experience in the financial and software translation industries, becoming familiar with key-industry terminology.
- Build foundational UX writing skills to write clear, helpful, and useful UI messages, alerts, and instructions.
- Enhance your communication skills for working effectively within a corporate environment, collaborating across teams, and engaging with project leaders.
Activities
- Support the localization team with tasks such as editing, auditing, approving, and translating content.
- Explore the SaaS Board platform to investigate and understand the context of strings.
- Proactively communicate any issues, challenges, or obstacles to the team leader.
- Gain a thorough understanding of the localization tool to ensure accurate translations and minimize errors.
- Adhere to content guidelines and follow the official glossary, ensuring correct spelling and the use of exclusive English-only terms.
- Comply with specific limitations and detailed instructions as provided.
Requirements
- Native proficiency in Spanish, Italian, French, or German (proficiency in more than one language is an advantage).
- Excellent spoken English skills.
- Academic background in Foreign Languages, Translation, Linguistic Mediation, or a related field.
- Ability to identify potential ambiguities or alternative meanings in translations and investigate further as needed.
- Familiarity with SaaS software terminology and industry-standard language.
- Understanding of when to use formal or informal tones appropriately.
- Strong communication skills to raise concerns, report unusual findings or address issues.
- Experience using software and online content tools.
- Familiarity with the Crowdin platform is advantageous.
- Knowledge of or interest in the finance industry is a plus.
- UX writing knowledge is beneficial.
